Verbs with Accusative and Dative Objects

Use verbs that take two objects and order them correctly.

Explanation

Some German verbs take both a dative object and an accusative object.

Two nouns: dative before accusative · Accusative pronoun before dative noun · Two pronouns: accusative before dative.
PatternExample
Dative noun + accusative nounIch gebe dem Kind das Buch.
Accusative pronoun + dative nounIch gebe es dem Kind.
Accusative pronoun + dative pronounIch gebe es dir.

Examples

Er zeigt mir sein Auto.He shows me his car.
Sie schickt ihm eine E-Mail.She sends him an email.
Ich wünsche dir viel Glück.I wish you good luck.
